Yao Studio is a Canberra photography and film studio covering real estate, weddings and videography. Their work is visual, so their website had to be too.
We designed and built a monochrome, image-led site where the photography leads and the interface gives it room.
Scope of Work
THE APPROACH
Photography leads. The interface gives it room.
Image first — Yao Studio's work is the product, so the site is built around full-bleed photography and film, with as little interface as possible.
Monochrome frame — black, white and slate keep attention on the images, whether it is a wedding, a home or a film.
Clear paths — Videography, Real estate, Wedding and About are each one tap from the home page.
THE DESIGN LANGUAGE
Less interface. More image.
Type — Geist Sans in regular, medium and bold, with scale and spacing doing the work.
Colour — black, white and slate, with monochrome imagery as the signature.
Cues — simple numbered sections and "Find out more" links.
